This Sunday the 17th of June Ben Cartwright will be pushing his fittness to the limit by taking part in the 70.3 Ironman in Wimbleball, Somerset http://www.ironmanuk.com/uk-ironman-703 . This gruelling event entails a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run across the challenging Exmoor terrain.
en has been training hard for several months pounding the Derbyshire peaks come rain or shine and is looking forward to the challenge, whilst at the same time raising funds for his local Mencap charity, where he has been a volunteer for over 8 years. All donations go directly to the charity and Ben has funded all aspects of this Challenge himself.
Darley Dale Mencap has been running for over 20 years and is funded solely by public donations and run by a small team of dedicated volunteers. The club is open to adults of all abilities and ages and hosts a variety of events and activities, including sports, crafts, drama and days out.
