Everybody got away cleanly at the Start and Butler made one of his legendry hill climb starts and passed Jamie and Reeder into second place. Ben had to defend his line into the Redgate but made it around the first corner in the lead. Jamie and Reeder headed off down towards Craner Curves side by side and Reeder who was held out wide spun and ended up in the middle of the circuit facing the oncoming pack of 20 Ferrari's hurtling towards him. Fortunately everybody missed and Reeder rejoined the race. Meanwhile Jamie had passed Butler under starkeys bride and set off after big brother. Nick had started an impressive charge and was working his way through the field. By the end on the first lap Jamie was welded to Bens rear bumper and stayed there until midway in the race when he passed him exiting Goddards chicane onto the start finish straight. Ben managed to stay with Jamie for the next few laps until his brakes cried 'enough' and his exhaust fractured. Meanwhile on circuit there were other close battles going on and a coming together between a Ferrari 308 GT4 and a Ferrari 308 fibreglass car at Hollywood that put both drivers out of the race with significant damage to their cars. There was also a coming together at the end of the straight approaching Goddard's Chicane between the Ferrari 328 GTB's of Squire and Fisk which ended their race. Nick had worked his way up to 7th place and remained there until the flag. It was Jamie's day and he crossed the line with a comfortable margin ahead of Ben in 2nd. Butler finished in 3rd with Peter Everigham closing in on him in 4th in his Ferrari 328 GTB.

It was Jamie's turn to drive the Ferrari 355 Challenge in the open race and we hoped for more success after Bens unfortunate accident at Oulton Park. Jamie had very limited testing time in the car but set a impressive qualifying time placed himself in the middle of the Ferrari 355 C1 class and 14th place on the grid. The rolling start looked very impressive with a mix of Ferrari 430, Ferrari 360 and Ferrari 355 Challenge cars charging into Regate. The lead Ferrari 430's made contact which left cars facing the wrong way and it looked as though bedlam was about to ensue as the chasing pack filtered into the corner. Somehow everyone made it through and Jamie narrowly missed taking the stationary Ferrari 430's front nose off. This incident scattered the grid and promised an exiting race with Ferrari 355's running at the Sharpe end of the race. Local man Craig Millner who had out qualified the other Ferrari 355 Challenges and started 10th on the grid now found himself in an impressive 5th place. Jamie's pace was looking good and he was challenging the Ferrari 355's ahead of him. On the 3rd lap he was taken out by another Ferrari 355 Challenge entering the Goddards Chicane and was thrown into the gravel. This incident bought out the safety car and unfortunately Jamie was unable to rejoin the race.

So ends another year of racing. Although a disappointing result in the Open we are delighted with a One - Two finish in the Classic. We had hoped for an all Cartwright podium but that will have to wait for next year !
