Oulton park 2015 The second and third rounds of the 2015 Pirelli formula classic were to be held at Oulton park in Cheshire. Due to being so busy back in the workshop, for team Cartwright it was the season opener though.
Always favourite for any racer Oulton park is a technical road race style track and our second home circuit after Donnington. Shortly after scruteneering its time for qualifying, Jim is fastest for first few laps until a stray wheel of a competitors car red flags the session for 10 mins, Jim decided not to go back out for the remaining 10 mins because of not wanting to overheat the new Pirelli tyres. As a result drops down the time sheets to see Culver on pole with Butler second, Nick C settled for a disappointing 6th but had it all to do in the race. Eventually after much waiting around it was time for race 1, with only a small grid of 15 cars it wasn't set to be a scorcher but still looked like some interesting rivalries might be settled, unfortunately 5 seconds before the lights went out the main seal on culvers 328 decided it didn't like its job anymore and retired the car in a cloud of smoke. Off the lights Butler held the lead but Jim gets past on lap2 and pulls a 20 second gap in a lonely race. Meanwhile Nick was feeling a little rusty, struggling to move up the order but enjoying a fun race all the same. Jim took the win with a good margin to Butler. The second race was pretty much the same as the first race, so not too much to report of ,still ,all in all a good day with Jim taking two wins, with some good points to be had. As usual our cars ran perfectly and we look forward to Brands hatch in 3 weeks time for a single header meeting on the Indy circuit.
